International Women Day

The International Women Day is a globally celebrated day whereby women’s fight for equality and liberation are commemorated and celebrated across the globe.

The International Women Day also marks a call to action to end the violence and all other forms of abuses that are perpetrated against women across the world.

The International Women Day was first celebrated on 08th March in Russia to honor the role of Russian women in the 1917 russian revolution and this took place in 1922. It was subsequently celebrated on that date by other communist countries.

The United Nations has been observing the International Women Day on 08th March of every year since 1977.

International Women Day is an official public holiday in many countries and is always observed in connection with a particular issue or theme in women’s rights.
